Team work
As an Equine Body Worker I see myself as part of your horse's wellness team, working alongside your vet, farrier, back person, physiotherapist, saddle fitter, dentist, trainer, or whoever you may wish to use.
As part of the assessment during massage I may look at your horses teeth, shoes and tack to gain an overview of his health. Although I have covered these areas during my studies I am not a qualified dentist, farrier or saddle fitter and will not advise on issues here - I am happy to liase with your team of experts to help you find a solution.
Massage and stretching techniques work well as part of:
a rehabilitation programme following injury
a fitness programme - maintaining optimum performance
a deliberate touch programme to help reduce tactile defensiveness
a wellness programme - for relaxation
a body 'MOT' to identify areas of soreness
Just as humans benefit from regular massage, your horse will also come to enjoy it and relax. Following a massage session I will leave you exercises that you can do at home between sessions to prolong the benefits.
